Duvid Chaim’s Phone Conference

How long is each session – from noon till when?

Each session is one hour long. The Call begins at Noon East Coast time. Callers will benefit the most from being on the Call for the entire hour – but if time constraints are an issue then you can participate as long as time will allow.

And what about privacy?

As the Sponsor/Moderator, I expect each participant to commit to the maximum respect for privacy and confidentiality. Callers can use made-up names if they so choose.

How many sessions does it take?

There are Four Sessions per week – Monday thru Thursday. The last Group took 13 weeks to complete the cycle. We will spend whatever time is necessary to cover the Big Book, from "The Doctor’s Opinion" thru Chapter 7 – "Working with Others, page 103.

Is it best to have printed out the AA Big Book, or can I use it online while on the phone?

It is definitely best, in my opinion, to have a real copy of the Big Book – 4th Edition. If you have the online version, then please print out all these pages and put it in a 3 ring binder.

Is it reading and discussing the book, or are you adding in other info that I might want to take notes from? Is this group participation, or mostly us listening?

Each Call, a different participant will be asked to read out of the AA Big Book.  We are both reading each page and discussing the most important points; with lots of Group Participation. I will be acting as your "Sponsor" during the Calls and will be leading the discussions. I will also be adding drashas from various Torah sources.

I suggest each participant take lots of notes and highlight (or mark) all over the Big Book. This is for two reasons.
#1- As you go forward from the Calls, your notes will be invaluable to help you face the common struggles we face; and give you Chizuck when you need it.
#2- one of the most important Steps of 12 Steps is the 12th Step Working with Others – so you will benefit in the future by having good notes now.

How much does it cost per minute for a call to the 712 area code? I might have to reimburse my employer for time on the phone.

I don’t know how much it will cost to area code 712. Perhaps you’ll want to get a calling card which I believe has rates as low a 2 cents per minute, ($1.20 per Call), plus this solves your problem of "taking" from your employer.

Another "PLUS" to this upcoming session is that we will have an awesome group of veterans joining the Group who will be serving as "Big Brothers" – who will help participants keep up with the material.

Any other questions you have, please call me at (214) 542-9511.

What do I do if I miss a call session or two?

Occasionally missing a call should be OK. But not on a regular basis.
