Uri's Songs
« on: August 10, 2009, 01:55:24 AM »
Hey guys, did you know Uri was a soulful musician?

Click here to download a song he sent me, that he played and sung on the guitar... Brings tears to the eyes... :'(

Here are the lyrics: (Uri, maybe you should consider going around the world and playing GuardYourEyes songs to be Machzir yidden bitshuvah, like Shlomo Carlbach?  :D)

My Guard Your Eyes Song - By Uri

Im walking down the city street.
I'm staring at my feet.
I sense pritzus all around,
but my eyes are looking down.

Is that how it should be?
Life in the holy city?
How far are we gone,
from the city that was song.

Hashem!Hashem!Listen to our tears!
We've been washing the streets of jerusalem with them for 2000 years!
Our father, our king!Wont you hear our cries?!
Where are you,Tatte? Please don’t say goodbye..

When I finally reach the wall,
feeling 2 feet tall.
I touch the holy stones of G-d
and I start to sob.

I cry for my family and my friends,
for my sickness that never ends.
But I realize that I am not alone.
a sigh comes from the stones.

They cry:

Hashem!Hashem!Listen to their tears!
They've been flooding the streets of jerusalem with them for 2000 years!
Our father, our king!Wont you hear their cries?!
Where are you,Tatte? Please don't say goodbye.

I lay in bed all night,
tossing till first light.
I feel so alone,
though my family are all home.

My need is so strong,
but acting out is so wrong.
Isnt there a way,
for comfort without pay??

Is it worth the cost,
to let lust be my boss?
My heart wants TV,
but my neshama starts to sing!

She cries:

Hashem!Hashem!Listen to our tears!
We've been washing the streets of jerusalem with them for 2000 years!
Our father, our king!Wont you hear our cries?!
Where are you,Tatte?Without you,we will die.

Hours by the computer screen,
with all thoughts unclean.
My neshama sits forlorn,
In a world not her own.

Is this who I want to be,
a person who isnt free?
Prisoner to my lust,
break free is what I must!

Hashem!Hashem!Listen to our tears!
We've been washing the streets of jerusalem with them for 2000 years!
Our father, our king!Wont you hear our cries?!
Where are you,Tatte?Without you,we will die.

My soul wants you so,I want to sit on your lap.
Tatte please hug me,I want you to wrap.
your arms around me,I'm so tired and cold!
Abba take us home!To the city of gold.

Uri, you should just know that every time i wanted to post on your thread i stopped myself, because i felt it was inappropriate. But this, this is something else.

that tefilla is so incredibly beautiful that there are no words to describe it. i wish i could put it on my ipod and listen to it at night when I'm all alone because that song has the koach to bring me to rethink any action i may feel like doing.

I'm speechless. kol hakavod, uri.

oh, and amen, may Hashem bring Mashiach bimhaira biyameinu!!

Uri,

wow, kol hakavod!

also, it's very brave of you to post this online... i always wanted to send some of my songs to R'Guard, somehow anonymously, b/c i don't want to be recognized...

I also like the poem/lyrics you posted on your thread; it would be great if you'd put some music to that as well!

Neither. Totally altruistic.

Im not sure what to write to be honest. Im scared that whatever words I chose will come out empty, when my heart is feeling so full.
That song is truly the song of GUE. You have managed to capsulize our trials and yearnings perfectly.

Thank you :)

Definitely brave.

I really don't think anybody will recognize your voice. But if somebody does, he should be thinking that you are a gadol, a hidden tzaddik working on an issue a lot of guys have but are too afraid to deal with. This person should stand up for you the next time he sees you walk into the room.

Wow! I am speechless.  Words cannot describe the beauty and sincerity.  As I listened to this song, shivers went down my spine and tears dripped down my cheek.  I am going to have a hard time going back to what I am doing.  I am a bit reminded when I was your age and I still had a soft heart, I would sit at my guitar for hours after each fall, not knowing what to do with myself and crying my heart away.  Though, I was never able to express myself as beautifully as you.
Uri, realize your potential.  Your great soul is thirsty to express itself.  Give your soul what it needs.  Hopefully, through your great yearn for closeness with Hashem, you will learn how to simply "Let Go" and "Let G-d" into your life.

And please keep inspiring us.
Even when the Yetzer Hara bites, a Tzaddik always fights.
Never give up, No matter what.

Uri, Uri....

..Uri Uri Shir Daberi!

What a beautiful song, the words and the music.

I listened, I cried, I feel you my dear brother.

Please  allow us here, your family and friends, to hold your hand on your journey and we will all grow together and reach our common goals of defeating the Yetzer Hara forever!

Wow! we have to get a Kumzits going in the old city of Yerushlaim.

We got a star here.

This takes me back down memory lane, when on the way walking down to the Kosel i would come across groups of guys with guitars singing that would wake up my heart to the yearning of Hashem.

Uri - Not used to being this way, especially at work w/the people around, I find myself very emotional after hearing you song. Thank you.
I am crying while I write this. May hashem help, if it's His Will, that I participate in a GYE kumzitz as E.L. suggests. Here in chuz la'aretz it seems like a pipe dream, but should we be planning a trip to Eretz Yisroel in the next year if c"v mashiach hasn't come yet, I hope to remember to kvetch some of you israeli members for just such an undertaking. I love all of you much more that I realized or planned.
